FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Kansas City, Missouri, April 1, 2018

Bambou Salons & Spas has signed a letter of intent to acquire the Encounters Salon & Day Spa (Encounters) in Overland Park, located at 11156 Antioch in Overland Park, Kansas, effective May 1st, 2018. Led by owner Karen Tobin, Encounters has been a respected local business for over 30 years and has an excellent reputation for providing high quality hair, esthetician, and nail services. The salon carries Keune and ColorProof product lines.

Bambou Salons & Spas owner, Sean Barnard, says the acquisition represents strategic growth for Bambou and a continued investment in the Overland Park community. “We love being part of the Overland Park business community and we were so lucky to find another opportunity to grow our business here.” Barnard says that Encounters is a perfect fit for Bambou, “Karen has built a fantastic business with an exceptionally qualified team of stylists known for the same high standards and guest service we value.”

The acquisition effectively doubles the size of Bambou in both employees and revenue, although no changes are planned immediately. “We will be changing the salon over to the Bambou brand eventually, but not for a few months,” Barnard says. There are also no planned changes in staff. “We have talked to the current Encounters team and look forward to welcoming them all to Bambou.” continues Barnard, “What we do hope to provide is our own proven marketing and operations strategies that will enable the team to keep focusing on their craft and making our guests happy!”

The Bambou Salon & Spa brand has previously acquired two salons in the Kansas City metro area, the first in Downtown Overland Park and previously known as the International Hair & Day Spa, and the second in Blue Springs, formerly known as the Queen Bee Salon. Barnard says that the company expects to acquire more salons in the next year, hopefully bringing the brand to a Kansas City, MO location. “We love what is happening in Kansas City and we just want to be part of it!” says Barnard.
