Diversion of licensed Manufacturers products exists when counterfeit, out of date, or bulk products are bought and sold through discount stores, retail warehouses, or on the internet.Bambou Salons & Spas supports companies that have strict policies to ensure their products are only available from professional licensed salons. We guarantee the quality and authenticity of all our products 100% and purchase directly from licensed distributors.
Just as our clients are stepping out of the chair and admiring our stylists’ work, they’ll often ask about which products we’ve used to give that perfect sheen of life and softness to their new cut and/or color. At Bambou, we pick our products very carefully and only use what we consider to have the best combination of quality, economy, and environmental consciousness. That’s why we always recommend and provide those same products for sale, so you can continue to recreate the same results at home for days and even weeks until your next appointment.
When recommending our products, we also often hear some common responses: “Thanks, but I can get the same thing online,” or “I’ve seen a Groupon for that,” or “I think they have it cheaper in the discount store”. We can’t argue with that, and those offers are usually out there. However, these “deals” are often the result of expired, diluted, damaged, or simply counterfeit products. At best, these products may leave your hair looking less polished than when you left the salon. At worst, you could be causing real damage to your hair.
This practice is known as Diversion, which happens products are counterfeit, out of date, or bought and sold in bulk through discount stores, retail warehouses, or on the internet, without permission or consent of licensed manufacturers. Bambou Salons & Spas supports companies that have strict policies to ensure their products are only available from professional licensed salon, and we guarantee the quality and authenticity of all our products 100% and purchase directly from licensed distributors.
So, how do you know if products have been diverted?
Manufactures like Kevin Murphy, Keune and ColorProof employ teams of quality control employees that search for and shut down online sales of their product – because they only sell to licensed salons. If a product we sell isn’t from our salon or another salon like ours, it’s likely not genuine. Regardless, you won’t know if your products are counterfeit or damaged until it’s too late.
For example, one of our favorite clients told us that her shampoo and conditioner didn’t smell the same as what we had used on her hair.
She told us, “It smells so good when I’m here and it’s just not the same at home.” When we ask if she purchased it from Bambou, she responded “No, but it’s the same bottle, I just paid 20% less”.
We told her to bring in the bottle so that we could take a look and help. With one glance and it was obvious, she had spent her hard-earned dollars buying a bottle that was two years past it’s ‘use-by’ date – simply, it had spoiled. We have also seen products with ‘look-alike’ packaging and are simply not what they claim to be. It’s not just fake handbags and jewelry that flood our markets, beauty products are a billion dollar industry and there are fakes out there.
Does it really matter how old product is?
Freshness isn’t limited a trip to the grocery store. Would you buy milk from the open shelf or fish that was laying out? Of course not. All products, from milk to mascara, cauliflowers to conditioner, and shellfish to shampoo have a ‘life’ and should be stored at the right temperatures and not for too long. Nothing good lasts forever!
At Bambou, we source all of our professional haircare products from one authorized distributor who guarantees the authenticity, quality and freshness of everything we buy. We make the same promise to our guests, and we guarantee your satisfaction and will not hesitate to refund your money if it’s not perfect for you.
Need one more reason why you should buy from Bambou?
If you need one more really good reason to buy your hair and skin products from one of our salons, we would like you to know that you are also supporting the professional who cut, colored or styled your hair. Every purchase supports how stylists maintain their professional standards.
For our team, their training doesn’t stop the day they get a license and their first set of sheers. Most of the products we sell earn education dollars that our Salon Service Group partners return to us with free color, cut and styling classes. Some of the educators work directly with hair experts like Kevin Murphy personally. Learning how to be the best and up to date never ends.
Let’s bring it home!
The next time you see a ‘bargain’, you might want to avoid the temptation. If you want to save, save your time, save your money and save yourself the headache of diverted, counterfeit, and spoiled beauty products!
