When I made the announcement that we were to temporarily close our three locations, I said it was the most difficult decision I’ve had to make. With the health and safety of our guests and team members on the line, I’m confident we made the right decision even though it has had a devastating financial impact on each of our employees. The day we closed we were all pretty miserable – but true to our Core Values we have been focused on looking forward to the future and “Doing the Right Thing”.

Staying Busy During the Quarantine

First, to make sure that guests have access to everything they need, we remain “OPEN” for business and have been busy filling orders for all of your favorite products. We are making deliveries directly to your doorstep with Kevin Murphy, Keune, ColorProof, Image, Jane Iredale and our complete line of Bambou Private Label products as well as a supply of 8oz bottles of FDA approved Hand Sanitizer. Just email [email protected] or call 913.341.1717 today to place your order.

Preparing for the New Normal

Before we closed, we rolled out our signature “Bambou Sanitization Rules” that added strict procedures on how to keep everyone safe. From spraying down every chair and station between appointments to using bacterial wipes on practically everything, we did all we could think of. I want to thank everyone who sent messages of support and thanks when they saw our teams going the extra mile.

Since we’ve been closed, we haven’t stopped thinking about what else we can do. We are now completely focused and committed to what happens when we do reopen. Although there is no timeline for when our doors can greet our first returning guest, and no guidelines yet from the CDC, local authorities or Boards of Cosmetology – we are creating our own new standards.

Team-Led Initiatives

Each of our Team Members has been assigned to one of 4 Task Forces, headed up by our two store Managers and two of our Senior Stylists. The list of ideas has been outstanding, and we are going to be the best in the business for how to take good care of everyone. But with my Task Leaders – we are taking it one step further.

Before we reopen, each Team Member will be trained on our new Sanitization Standards Manual and will be required to earn their “Bambou Sanitization Certification”. This will be also be mandatory for all new Team Members joining Bambou Salons.

In addition, many of our Team Members have already received their Beauty Industry Professional certificate from Barbicide, the recognized industry leader in products that clean and disinfect the tools used in salons across the world. The day we open, every Team Member will be one of over 100,000 certified professionals.

Future Appointments & Rescheduling

Meanwhile, we’re also juggling with the hundreds of preset appointments and rescheduling everyone each time we are directed to stay closed. For guests who already have an appointment scheduled for any time after we reopen – nothing will change – you’re booked in. If we remain closed and you are forced to miss your time – when the time comes to announce our reopening – we will be in touch. Our days and hours of opening will change so that we can accommodate and schedule everyone at a time that suits you to the very best of our abilities.

So, When Do We Re-Open?

My decision on when to open will depend on full compliance and guidance issued by our local, State and Federal authorities as well as the Center for Disease Control. In my opinion, anything else is reckless and irresponsible regardless of the financial impact. Nothing has changed – the health and safety of our guests and our Team Members will remain my #1 priority and responsibility.

When the time comes…we will be back snipping, styling, coloring, processing and adding those extra touches of love that bring out the best in your good looks and beauty. We can’t wait to see you again soon. Thank you for your continued loyalty to Bambou Salons and Spas…and don’t hesitate to reach out to me at [email protected] if you have any questions or concerns.
